Before Changing the Filter:

When it comes to changing an air filter on your own, it’s important to know exactly where to start! As always, your personal protection is of utmost importance. Please follow the Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as described in your owner's manual.

You’ll need the following in order to successfully complete your air filter change:

First and foremost, you’ll find that there is an evacuator valve on the air cleaner housing assembly that requires servicing. This valve should be opened/cleaned once a week under ordinary conditions, or daily when used in a dusty place. Cleaning this valve helps to get rid of large particles of dust and dirt before it reaches the air filter.

To Remove the Filter:

  1. Open the hood.
  2. Clean any debris around the air filter housing using compressed air or a shop vacuum.
  3. Release clips holding the cover on the air filter housing.
  4. Remove the air filter.
  5. If there is dry dust adhering to the element, blow compressed air from the inside turning the element to dislodge all of the debris. (Important Notes: Make sure the pressure of compressed air is under 30 psi. If the filter has carbon or oil, soak it in detergent for 15 minutes. After soaking, wash several times in water and rinse with clean water. Let the filter air dry.)
  6. After fully dried, or properly removed of dust with compressed air, inspect the inside with a light to see if it is damaged or not. It it is damaged, replace with a new one. (Important Note: The air filter uses a dry element so never apply oil!)
  7. Install the filter, housing and fasten the clips. Be sure to reinstall the cover with the arrow in the upward position. If the cover is improperly installed, debris could pass by the evacuator valve and directly adhere to the air filter.

Typical Housekeeping:

The primary air filter element should be cleaned every 100 hours and replaced every 1,000 hours or one year, whichever comes first. Be sure to clean the filter more often in severely dusty conditions.
